E.J. Anosike Hosts Important Meetings With Nigerian Sports Leaders in Abuja
Following his historic championship-winning season in China, Nigerian basketball star Ejimofor “E.J.” Anosike recently held a series of important meetings with Nigerian sports and diaspora leaders in Abuja focused on youth empowerment, sports development, and long-term opportunities for African youth.
The visit included meetings at the National Sports Commission (NSC) Headquarters, where NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko hosted discussions centered around the growth of African basketball, international exposure for African athletes, and the future of sports development across the continent.
Anosike recently completed one of the most successful seasons in league history, leading the Hong Kong Bulls to the 2026 NBL Championship while earning Finals MVP, Best International Player, and Slam Dunk Champion honors.
The group also met with Nigerian leader Abike Dabiri for conversations surrounding diaspora impact, education, mentorship, agriculture, and youth empowerment through sports and community initiatives.
Joining the meetings was Meta Africa Sports founder Ibrahim Famouke Doumbia, who shared the vision behind Meta Africa Sports, Sini Foundation, and Sini Academy — organizations dedicated to helping African youth through basketball, education, technology exposure, mentorship, and farming initiatives designed to teach sustainability and life skills to the next generation.
The discussions emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for young Africans both on and off the court while building systems capable of positively impacting communities beyond sports alone.
The meetings highlighted the growing global influence of African athletes and the importance of collaboration between athletes, organizations, and leadership figures working together to create opportunities for future generations.
