UAlbany Adds Senegal-Linked Guard Moustapha Ndao to International Class
UAlbany has added another Africa-connected guard to its 2026-27 roster, with the Times Union reporting that Moustapha Ndao is one of the final two commitments in Dwayne Killings' incoming class. Ndao, 21, is of Senegalese descent and comes from Qatar, where he has played for Al Ahli and represented Qatar at youth and senior national-team levels.
The move fits a broader roster build built around international pathways. The Times Union reported that UAlbany's incoming group includes players from high school, JUCO, Division I transfers, Canadian programs and overseas leagues, with nine newcomers representing eight countries. Ndao's route also includes a previous stop in Ohio high school basketball before returning to the Middle East.
For Meta Africa Sports, Ndao is a worthwhile name to track because his story sits at the intersection of Senegalese heritage, international club basketball and NCAA opportunity. UAlbany is clearly leaning into global recruiting, and Ndao's adjustment from the Qatar Basketball League to America East play will be an interesting test case for guards coming from outside the traditional U.S. prep-to-college pipeline.
