Louisville Adds Kinshasa-Born Portal Standout Flory Bidunga

Louisville has officially added one of the most important African-born names in the NCAA transfer cycle. The Cardinals announced the signing of Flory Bidunga, a 6-foot-10 forward from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, who arrives from Kansas after two seasons in Lawrence.

Bidunga gives Louisville an immediate frontcourt anchor after a sophomore season in which he averaged 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.6 blocks while shooting 64 percent from the field. Louisville's release notes that he was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, led the league in total blocks and blocks per game, and was listed as the No. 1 transfer portal player by both On3 and 247Sports.

Bidunga's path from Kinshasa to Kokomo High School, Kansas and now Louisville is another example of how African-born prospects are shaping high-major college basketball.
